It is with deep sorrow that the Post family announces the death of Mr. George Ernest Post, 61 of McBee, South Carolina. Mr. Post entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 surrounded by family at his home. The Directors of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home & Crematory are caring for the family. Mr. Post was born in Wayne County, MI to Elizabeth Ann Leege Post and the late Ernest Anthony Post. He graduated from Airport High School in 1980. Upon graduation, George served in the United States Army for four years. After the military, he was employed by Tube City IMS for over 30 years. His work had him move all across the country and traveling around the world meeting many wonderful friends along the way. He moved to South Carolina for work in 2017 where he met his beloved wife Luan. They married in July of 2017. In August of 2020, George was in a tragic motorcycle accident and fought hard over the past three years battling many health issues. George loved his country and was very patriotic. He spent his free time riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and attended bike weeks with his wife. He was a big fan of University of Michigan, University of Georgia, and Pittsburgh Steeler football. He really enjoyed the simple things like doing projects around the farm and looking after his horses, Pella and Rosie. Most of all, George loved spending time with his wife, kids, grandchildren, friends, and pets. He will be remembered for his work ethic, stories, sense of humor, and generosity. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife Luan Shaw Post of McBee, SC; children, Kristina Lynn Sullivan (Jason) of Adairsville, GA, Clinton Ernest Post (Amy) of Plainwell, MI, and Mariah Taylor Avant (Will) of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Teresa Vukobratovich of Carleton, MI, Shelley Renee Splan (Fred) of La Salle, MI; grandchildren, Isabella, Kayleigh, Ansley, Brinley, Hadleigh, Gauge, Olivia, and Eleanor; great-grandchild, Oaklynd; nephews, Brody Vukobratovich and Matthew Lehmann; his dearest bulldog, Rip; and grand-pup, Charlotte. A memorial service to honor his life will be held outside at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2023, at the family farm. The Rev. Danny Holley will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service and other times at the home. Please dress casual and weather appropriate. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking you donate money to your local humane society or Children’s hospital in his memory.
