It is with deep sorrow that the Page family announces the death of Mrs. Ouida Faye Davis Page, 95. Mrs. Page, the widow of H. D. Reese Page, entered into rest on Thursday, August 10, 2023. The Directors of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home & Crematory are caring for the family. A funeral service to honor her life will be held at 1 o'clock on Thursday, August 17, 2023, in The Chapel of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home, with The Rev. Dr. Gregory B. Boyd officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of Ronald Reese Page, 126 Loring Drive, Hartsville, SC, immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to the Ella Reese Page Endowed Scholarship Fund (b11027), The University of South Carolina School of Law, Office of Gift Processing, 1600 Hampton Street, Suite 736, Columbia, SC 29208. Mrs. Ouida Faye Davis Page, the widow of the late Henry Dobson Reese Page, celebrated 56 special years together. He died in 2008. Faye was the only child of the late Kathlene Kenrick and Samuel Edward Davis. Granddaughter of the late Honorable Thomas W. Lamb and Mrs. Lamb (who was known affectionately as "MaMa Lamb." Faye was born in Aiken, SC, on December 31, 1927. It took her mother, grandmother, and a nanny to keep up with her. Around the time of the Lindbergh kidnapping, she disappeared, and with her father and the police, they found her playing happily at a neighbor's home. Faye had pleasant memories of playing Hopscotch, Mother May I, and Red Rover with her friends in Aiken. Her daddy used to enjoy eating lunch in her playhouse. It was wired and large enough to sleep four! Her minister at First Baptist Church in Aiken, SC, was Dr. McClain, who wore a formal tuxedo in the pulpit. She was nine when she became a church member. Ouida Faye moved to Columbia, SC, where she was a graduate of the original Columbia High School on Washington Street. She was a member of the Glee Club, a Senior class poet, and manager of the supply room. She received a B.A. Degree in Education from the University of South Carolina, where she met the love of her life in her senior year. Reese was a blind date; she met him in her own living room. They married two years later. Ouida Faye was a four-year voice student under Dr. Williamson, besides being a member of the U.S.C. chorus, the Hyparthion Literary Society, the Coed Association, and the Baptist Student Union. She was president of the Education Club, a life member of Alumni at the University of South Carolina, and a member of the Gray Ladies of the American Red Cross. She taught school in Atlanta, GA, Columbia, SC, and Thomas Hart Academy in Hartsville, SC, and was a substitute teacher at Carolina Elementary. Faye enjoyed helping others and did so as long as she lived. Ouida Faye was a former original member of Shandon Baptist Church in Columbia, where she was a member of the choir and soloist. At First Baptist in Hartsville, she was a member and soloist for forty years, active in Sunday School, B.T.U., and Golden Fellowship. She and the Rev. Dr. Aubrey Floyd often visited shut-ins. She was a volunteer at the Byerly Hospital for forty years with 3,000 hours. She served as President and the "Pediatric Lady," and organizer of Personal Services. During her time at Byerly, she had Dr. Kim Chalmers, director of art at Coker College, and students design and decorate the walls in Pediatrics with stationary "Memory Games" wheel to match up capitals and states and find the birds and animals in a six-foot tree, all on the walls! She was an active member and former board member of the Hartsville Music Study Club, a participant in the Hartsville Civic Chorale, Each One Teach One, helped with Christmas In April, and was on the board of the Hartsville - Coker Community Concerts. Faye is survived by her caring and supportive daughter, Ouida Kenrick Page; one grandson, Ronald Reese Page, whom she's cherished for 37 years; and her first cousin, Frances Kenrick Case, who was like a sister, and many other dear relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her loving daughter, Ell Reese Page, Esquire, who died in 2000, and Ouida's husband, Greg Valdez, who died on January 8, 2022.
