It is with deep sorrow that the Chisholm family announces the death of their beloved father, Mr. Dale Travis Chisholm, 62. Mr. Chisholm entered into rest on Thursday, April 24, 2025. The Directors of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home & Crematory are caring for the family. A funeral service to honor his life will be held at 3 o'clock on Monday, April 28, 2025, in The Chapel of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. The Rev. Chuck Chisholm will officiate with burial to follow in Piney Plain Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at the funeral home. Mr. Chisholm was born on Tuesday, April 16, 1963, in Darlington County, SC. He is the son of the late Marion Chisholm and the late Pauline Brigman Gainey. Dale Chisholm valued the simple things in life and was unapologetically himself at all times. He was proud of his children, loved his Gamecocks, and a good laugh, and he lived life on his own terms. Born into a family of carpenters, Dale carried on that family tradition. He worked in construction all his life, including many years at Galey and Lord in Society Hill. He took pride in his tool collection and his carpentry skills. His nickname, Dill Pickle, was a reminder of the humor he carried with him everywhere. He even gave his closest family members their own nicknames. Family and friends came to expect him to make jokes and crack himself up in any conversation with him. Dale was also known for being stubbornly independent and never changing to please anyone else. He was a straight-shooter; he said exactly what he thought, and did only what he wanted to do. Even after living many years in Georgia, he stayed true to his Gamecocks and Cowboys. Dale leaves behind his daughter, Becky Chisholm; son, Travis (Sarah) Chisholm; stepdaughters, Stephanie Phillips and Marie Williams; stepson, Edward Newton Jr.; grandsons, Gabriel and Dallas Chisholm; granddaughter, Cali Reynolds; brothers, Donald Chisholm, Dean Chisholm, Christopher Chisholm, Larry Chisholm, and Charles Horne; sisters, Buffy Boatwright, Wendy Hicks, Penny Walters, Mary Buie, and Deborah Chisholm; and special friend, Joan Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Randy Chisholm, Stanley Chisholm, and Kenneth Horne; his sister, Peggy Pisciotta; stepson, Jimmie Williams; and good friend, Donald Williams.
