Alice Camille Hodge Thrailkill, 93, went home to her Lord and Savior on October 6, 2011. Born on August 18,1918, in Alcolu, Clarendon County, SC, she was the loving daughter of the late Patrick Arthur Hodge and Nelle Eugenia Hodge. She was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Patricia Hodge Bagnal of Manning, SC and four brothers; Wylie Arthur Fort Hodge of Alcolu, SC, Richard Dudley Hodge of Lake City, SC, Jack DuPre Hodge of Clemson, SC and Douglas DuPre Hodge of Panama City, FL. Mrs. Thrailkill was married to the late Lovic Boyd Thrailkill, Jr. of Rock Hill, SC. She graduated from Manning High School and Draughan’s Business College in Columbia, SC. She worked for the Chemical Warfare Services in Washington, DC during World War II. After living in Sumter, Charleston and Columbia, she settled in Hartsville with her family. She was an accomplished homemaker, devoted daughter, wife, mother, and friend and a lady of integrity. Her legacy to her family and those who knew her was one of committed faith and prayer, wisdom and humor. Since 1951, she was an active Christian leader and helper in her church, Wesley United Methodist, Hartsville, SC. She served as President of the Edna Sowell Sunday School Class for 10 years and the King–White Circle. She was also a leader of the Alter Guild and donated many items to the church. She enjoyed working in her yard and garden. She moved to Simpsonville, SC in 2002. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 11:00 am at Magnolia Cemetery, Hartsville, SC. The Reverend Fran Elrod will officiate and Brown Pennington Atkins Funeral Home will be assisting the family. Pallbearers are sons in laws, Bill Johnson and Jeff Warren; nephews, Gary Partlow, Dennis Partlow and Ken Cook and cousin, Wylie Hodge. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 7, 2011 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Surviving are one son, Steven Douglas Thrailkill of Simpsonville, SC; two daughters and sons-in-laws, Sara (Sally) Nell Thrailkill Johnson and William (Bill) A. Johnson, III of Roswell, GA and Jane Lovick Warren and Jeffrey C. Warren of Simpsonville, SC; two grandchildren, William (Will) A. Johnson, IV of Rome, Italy and Sara Katherine Johnson of Atlanta, GA. She was predeceased by her son, Louis Boyd (Bo) Thrailkill. Other family survivors are one first cousin, Fielding Hodge of Arlington, Virginia and seven nieces and seven nephews from the Carolinas, Florida and Texas.
