Mrs. Bonnie Clark Melton

It is with deep sorrow that the Melton family announces the death of their beloved mother, Mrs. Bonnie Clark Melton, 75. Mrs. Melton, the widow of Michael Mozingo Melton Sr., entered into rest on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. The Directors of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home & Crematory are caring for the family. A funeral service to honor her life will be held at 2 o'clock on Thursday, February 15, 2024, in The Chapel of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. The Rev. Linn Kirkman will officiate with a private burial to follow in Westview Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Mrs. Melton was born on July 3, 1948, in Chesterfield, SC. She was the daughter of the late Calvin H. Clark and the late Carrie Winburn Clark. She was preceded in death by her brothers, William and Robert Clark. Bonnie was a very humble yet strong woman. She was selfless, caring, and compassionate to all. A devoted wife and mother, Bonnie loved her family with all her might. She loved people, especially kids, never missing an opportunity to have play time. Universal grandmother, one might say. Bonnie did a little bit of everything! Not only was she a great homemaker, but she was also a hard, dedicated worker, caregiver, babysitter, chef, gardener, seamstress, referee, chauffeur, etc. While she never landed “the big” contract, she was even an all-star pitcher in the backyard baseball league. Her career nearly came to an end when she took a line drive to the thigh, but she bounced right back up and struck out the next batter! While health issues tried to hinder Bonnie during her mid and later years, she never let the situations get the best of her. Bonnie fought with everything she had and won many battles, all while continuing to care for others. While Bonnie will be missed, we should not be overwhelmingly sorrowful for the loss but jealous of the Lord’s gain! She is survived by her son, Michael Mozingo Melton, Jr. (Lindsey) of Elgin SC; daughter, Melissa Melton Jock (Raymond) of Yorktown, VA; brother-in-law, William Patrick Melton (Marianne) of Lexington, SC; sister-in-law, Shirley Clark of Patrick, SC; grandchildren, Taylor Jock Blagg, Casey Ryan Jock, Abbie Mila Jock, Connor Ethan Jock, Christian Douglas Young, Corbin Michael Melton; and nieces and nephew, Anne Smith Haire, Adrienne Smith Beasley, Allison Smith Freeman, Carrie Clark, Debra Clark Winburn, Jeanette Clark Williams, Betty Jo Clark Walker, Paul Melton.
