Mr. Andy Simpson Beasley

Andy Simpson Beasley, 69 years young, beloved husband, Dad and Pop passed away peacefully and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 11, 2017. He was in the loving arms of his wife and surrounded by his family. Andy was born in Hartsville, South Carolina, on November 5, 1947, the son of the late John B. (J.B.) and Vivian Kea Beasley. He bravely battled ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) since 2012. Andy served in the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard. He retired from Millwright Shop at Sonoco Products Company and was a member of the Sonoco Old Timers Club. He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church for more than 20 years. Andy was an avid sports fan, supporting The University of South Carolina Fighting Gamecocks; NASCAR, especially the entire Earnhardt family of drivers and the Dallas Cowboys and many more. Before his illness, Andy and Joyce split their time between Hartsville and Garden City, S.C. They actually lived there full time for nearly two years. Andy loved the beach life, the fresh air and spending time with his wife and many friends. He enjoyed music, good western movies and traveling. During the time of his battle with ALS, Andy was an inspiration to everyone he came into contact with. Andy had a big heart and wanted to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate. Because he was unable to offer help, he supported many local organizations to help them make a difference. Andy is survived by his loving wife of nearly 45 years, Joyce Smith Beasley. daughter Jennifer B. Marchant of Columbia and a son Jason Boyd Beasley of Hartsville. His precious granddaughters, Vivian Marchant of Columbia, Stella and Natalie Beasley of Hartsville. Step grandsons, Michael Marchant of Columbia and Johnathan Marchant of Raleigh, N.C. A sister, Melanie B. Easterling of Lydia who was dedicated to helping him through his illness. His sisters-in-law, Melinda Smith Byrd and husband Mike of Hartsville, and Cheryl Smith of The Hague, Netherlands, Holland. A brother-in-law, Loraine Smith and wife Wanda of Coward. His nephews, with whom he shared a special bond, Clark Easterling of Charlotte, N.C., Adrian Smith of Effingham, Justin Byrd and Raleigh Smith of Hartsville. His nieces, Andrea Hanna of Effingham and Beth Francis of Chesterfield. Special extended family Lee Stacy, Maureen Murphy, Sandy Wilcox, Stephanie Wilcox Urquhardt, Tonya Book and Geneva Brown. "The Cats" Emme, Elli and Ollie. Along with his parents, Andy was preceded in death by his sister Brenda, in-laws Melvin and Lula Mae Smith and his loving and faithful companion, his black lab named BlackJack. A memorial service will be held at 3 PM Sunday, July 16, 2017 at St. Luke United Methodist Church, 302 Dunlap Drive, Hartsville, SC with the Rev. Carl Hunsucker officiating. The family will receive friends at the church at 2 PM, one hour prior to the service. A heartfelt thanks to all members of the community and special friends for your support during Andy’s struggle with ALS.
