It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful sister, Alice Cynthia "Cindy" Catoe. Cindy passed on Saturday, January 2, 2021. She was 62-years old. Cindy was predeceased by her father, William Augustus Catoe, Sr., her mother Cynthia Alice Arnette, and her stepmother, Wilhemina “Billie” Olive Catoe. She is survived by her brother Reverend William A. Catoe, Jr. (Linda) of Pinehurst, N.C., her sisters Elsie J. Catoe of Hartsville, S.C., Angela K. Catoe of Hartsville, S.C., Norma L. Catoe of Virginia Beach, VA; her nephews, Will Catoe of Hoover, AL, and Aidan Catoe of Virginia Beach, VA; her niece, Ally Hosey (Justin) of Calera, AL, and her grand-nieces, Molly Daniel and Rayna Hosey of Calera, AL. Cindy was born and raised in Hartsville, S.C. She graduated from Hartsville High School and attended Winthrop College. Upon graduation from Winthrop, Cindy returned to Hartsville making it her lifelong home. She began her 40-year career as a Pharmaceutical Technician at Byerly Hospital and then at the Medical Arts Pharmacy. It is there where Cindy formed her lifelong friendships with Henry Taylor, Mike Rast, and the many others whom she worked closely with through the years, all of who became a part of her extended family. She will be remembered by all who knew her for her gentle demeanor. She was kind, compassionate, and just the sweetest person. She had a beautiful soul. Cindy had a deep love and adoration for animals. She loved her dog Benji whom she sadly had to put to sleep last year. For everyone who knew Cindy, they know that Benji was definitely the luckiest dog to have been rescued by her. The family would like to send a special thanks to the nursing staff and doctors in the Intensive Care Unit of Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center. The care and compassion Cindy received during her hospitalization was beyond reproach and we will be forever grateful. Cindy will be cremated and her ashes will be preserved by her family. Brown-Pennington Atkins Funeral Directors are caring for the family. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 6, 2021 in the Chapel of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home.
