Funeral services for Shirley Sarah Dixon, 73, will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, March 15, 2010 at Edward's Chapel Baptist Church. The Rev. Johnny Quick and the Rev. Marvin Griggs will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 14, 2010 from 5-7 p.m. at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Edwards Chapel Baptist Church, Box 240, Society Hill, SC 29595 or to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia SC 29210.
Mrs. Dixon, widow of Earl Dixon, died Friday, March 12, 2010. Born in Darlington Co., SC, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Nellie Weatherford Gainey. She was a member of Edward's Chapel Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.
Surviving are her daughters, Debbie Garrett and Brenda Jones of Patrick, SC; sister, Pat Hill of Hartsville, SC; brother, James Gainey of Cheraw, SC; grandchildren, Sarah Jones Tyner, James David Jones; great-grandchildren, Dustin Wayne Tyner, Travis William Tyner; stepchildren, Laverne Dixon of Wallce, SC, Mary Dixon of Patrick, SC; numerous step grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
