Margaret Jordan Timmerman of Greenville, SC passed away on March 4, 2010. Born on May 31, 1906, she was the widow of W. Price Timmerman, Jr.
Mrs. Timmerman was born in Hartsville, SC and resided there for the majority of her life. A 1928 graduate of Coker College, she was a lifelong, active and devoted member of Hartsville First Baptist Church and served her church in many capacities until her move to Greenville. She was a member of DAR, The Thursday Study Club, Pine Lake Garden Club and the Darlington County Library Commission. She was Clemson University’s Tiger Brotherhood Mother of the Year in 1981.
Her devout Christian beliefs were evidenced in everything thing she did...her charity, sweet spirit, devotion to family and friends, compassion, forgiveness, faith and involvement in her church, Mom, as she was known to most, was a beacon for so many, but especially her children and grandchildren. She was respected, admired, emulated and loved.
Mrs. Timmerman is survived by her children Al, John, Tim and Peggy; her children-in-law Garland, Sally and Tom Carter; twelve grandchildren and twenty two great-grandchildren.
The family is especially grateful to Heavenly Care Services and the wonderful caregivers who made Mom’s last years so comfortable.
Funeral services will be at 3:45 PM Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the Hartsville First Baptist Church Chapel, with a visitation in the church parlor one hour prior to the service. The family will also receive friends at the home of Sally and Tim Timmerman, 1614 Cleveland St. Ext., Greenville, SC 29607 on Friday night, March 5 beginning at 6:30 PM.
Memorials should be made to the charity of one’s choice or Hartsville First Baptist Church, 104 E. Home Ave., Hartsville, SC 29550. Brown-Pennington-Atkins is serving the family.
